Cycles 시리즈는 서로 다른 문화를 형성하고 있는 두 지역-대한민국 광주, 필리핀 바콜로드-예술가들 간의 교환 레지던시 프로그램이다.
2014년부터 시작된 교류전시는 2016년, Cycles 시리즈라는 공동창제작 프로그램으로 변모했으며 2017년부터 두 지역을 오가는 교환 레지던시 형식으로 자리잡았다.

참여작가는 광주와 바콜로드 두 도시에 대한 리서치를 기반으로 경험과 소통을 통한 동시대성에 대한 이해를 넓혀나간다.
또한, 예술가-예술가/예술가-큐레이터 간의 동행 및 공동작업의 개념으로, 시스템적 실험의 의미를 포괄하고 있으며 일련의 과정에 대한 기록 및 협의를 위한 정기적 미팅을 통해 공동의 합의를 도출해 나간다.

Cycles 시리즈는 문화 다양성의 중요성과 소통, 협업을 통한 교류에 대한 이해를 바탕으로 한 예술가의 역량 강화에 목적을 두고 있다.
광주와 바콜로드에서 각각 2개월간 거주한 예술가들은 공동창작 설치작품 1점과 기존장르에서 탈피한 실험적인 개인작품 5점을 선보인다.

The Cycle series is an exchange residency program between artists of two mutually different regions with different cultures: Gwangju, South Korea and Bacolod, Philippines.The exchange exhibition launched in 2014 altered into a joint creation and production program titled the Cycles series in 2016 and has settled as an exchange residency program between the two regions since 2017. Participating artists have further broadened their understanding of contemporaneousness through experiences and communication predicated upon research on two cities, Gwangju and Bacolod. This program also covers the meaning of systematic experiments based on the concept of collaborative joint work between artist and artist as well as artist and curator, reaching an agreement through regular meetings for consultation.The Cycle series aims to strengthen those artists’ abilities anchored in an understanding of the importance of cultural diversity, communication, and exchange through joint work.On display through this program are five experimental works and one installation jointly created by the artists who resided for two months respectively in Gwangju and Bacolod.
