The Eighth World embraces all the loves that exist in the world. There are many kinds of love, and we will take the definition of different kinds of love that have been passed down from ancient times, where love is categorized into eight types. Each love has a different name and meaning, and all of them have been handed down with human history. Likewise, love has existed in our lives in various forms. Nevertheless, some people reject differences through stigma and prejudice. In the name of freedom, hatred and rigid norms have suppressed differences. However, in the Eighth World, which embraces all love, respect and inclusion prevail, and everyone seeks to explore the diversity of solidarity and coexistence through art.
Artist Seo Ye-eun’s work overturns the restricted and standardized social order. Different objects that belong to unknown owners show a variety of shapes and forms of love while no one can decide which belongs to the minority or majority. Our perspectives gradually widen while we explore pieces of the puzzle. Social and cultural norms function differently in accordance with circumstances, and people sometimes fail to admit differences and force someone to live behind a protective coloration. We expect a better world where love can be just love with no need to hide under camouflage, and every living creature is respected and coexists simply because of their sheer existence in the form of life. We also hope their lives can exist with us and we can look forward to a world where various forms of love are respected, and stigmatization and rejection cease to exist..
