자본과 사회, 삶의 태도 등에 대한 고민을 사라져가는 것에 주목하여 예술적 메시지를 담은 회화작업을 일삼는 서영실과 인간의 존재에 대한 성찰적 작업으로 회화와 설치작업을 병행하는 카리나는 경험과 추억 그리고 기억의 본질을 탐구하는 설치작업을 선보인다. 삶을 살아가며 겪는 여러가지 경험은 복합적 감정을 일으키고 추억은 우리를 모델링하며 잠재의식에 기여하는데 결정적이다.

Youngsil Seo has worked on paintings conveying artistic messages, paying heed to her concerns with capital, society, and attitudes to the life while Karina Gonzaga has investigated human existence both in painting and installation. The two artists display an installation exploring the nature of experience, recollection, and memory. A variety of experiences we have had in our lives arouse intricate emotions and our recollections are determinant in modeling ourselves and shaping our subconscious.
우리는 생존을 위해 우리의 추억에 어느 정도 의존하고 있는지도 모르겠다. 우리가 방문한 다른 장소, 다른 시간, 사랑하는 이의 부재, 원하거나 원치 않는 감정들은 기억 속에 있다. 또한 우리가 무심코 진실이라고 확신해버리는 잘못된 기억들이 있다. 분명한 것은 우리의 삶은 언제나 끝이 있고, 다른 이들의 기억에만 존재할 것임을 알기에 삶의 형태에 대해 다시금 고민에 잠기게 한다.
We seem to rely on our memories for our survival to some extent. Places we have visited, different times, the absence of those we love, and wanted or unwanted feelings are all in our memories. There are some false memories we feel sure are true. What’s essential is our lives will die and only remain in others’ memories. As we are well aware of this, we are in trouble again.
