Shifting Ground, Overlapping Sound
회화, 조각은 물론 무대, 영화 등의 분야에서 다차원적인 감성을 표현하고 있는 준준 몬텔리바노와 이·삼차원이 혼재된 조형 드로잉 작업을 일삼는 배수민 작가가 만나 동시대적 정치·사회에 대한 메시지를 담은 공동창작 설치작품을 구현했다.
Junjun Montelibano has represented his multi-dimensional emotions not only in painting and sculpture but also on stage and in film while Bae Soomin has worked in sculptural drawing in a mixture of two and three dimensions. , a joint work by the two artists made up of ropes, a socio-political message of the times is conveyed, bearing a critical perspective toward recurring social issues and political structures.
.< IN LABYRINTH >에서 준준은 하늘로 향하는 로프기둥 형상을 통해 현재 필리핀의 정치적 이슈, 정당 대립, 어리석음을 끊임없이 반복하고 순환하고 있음을 은유적으로 보여주고자 한다. 이에 배수민 작가는 우리 사회를 제약하는 많은 규제와 제약들이 오히려 인간을 속박시키는 복잡하고 탈출할 수 없어 보이는 미로를 만들고 로프기둥을 중심에 위치시켜놓음으로써 한곳에 집중되는 형상을 이루는, 즉 특정 소수를 위한 지배구조 형성에 관해 표현했다.
< IN LABYRINTH >, Junjun Montelibano’s work is a metaphoric representation of the incessant recurrence and cycles of Philippine political issues, the confrontation of political parties, and follies through heavenward pillars with ropes. Bae Soomin’s work is also a metaphorical representation of the formation of governing structures for specific minorities by setting up a pole in the middle of a labyrinth from which nobody seems able to escape that stands for the situation in which humans are chained and restricted by a large body of regulations and restrictions in society.
