필리핀의 사회, 정치, 문화, 종교적 주제를 의인화된 동물로 희화적 표현을 일삼는 로드릭 티징과 겹겹이 레이어 된 회화에 조각기법 도입으로 입체적 회화를 선보이는 서영실 작가는 삶과 죽음의 순환고리에서 존재론적 관점의 메시지를 던지는 조형작품을 선보였다.
Roderick Tijing has comically represented Philippines’ social, political, cultural, and religious themes with personified animals whereas Seo Youngsil has presented three-dimensional paintings with the introduction of a layered sculptural technique. The two artists present , conveying messages associated with the cycle of life and death from an ontological perspective.
< Biophilia >는 삶과 죽음의 순환고리에서 인간의 욕망적 삶을 생명애적 개념으로 전환하고자 하는 메시지를 내포하고 있다. 특히 삶의 진정한 본질을 찾고자 하는 여행자로서의 위치로 '노마딕'개념으로 접근, 삶의 태도적 가치에 대한 질문을 던진다.
< Biophilia > represents our endeavors to convert our lives dominated by desire into our love for life in the cycles of life and death. This work raises a question concerning the value of life and approaches it with the concept of “nomads” as travelers who try to explore the true nature of life.
