뚱뚱한 형태의 인물 묘사로 필리핀의 정치·사회적 메시지를 담는 작업을 일삼는 레이먼드 레가스피와 환경조형, 디자인, 사운드아트, 조소 등 다장르적 활동을 하는 김현돈 작가는 환경에 대한 메시지를 담은 공동 창작 작품 < Fish out of Time >을 진행하였다.
Raymond Legaspi has conveyed political and social messages in the Philippines through his portrayals of plump figures whereas Kim Hyundon has worked in the multidisciplinary genres including environmental three-dimensional work, design, sound art, and sculpture. , a joint work by the two artists is a representation of a species endangered by humanity’s rampant development.
< Fish out of Time >은 인간의 무분별한 개발에 의해 사라지는 종들에 대한 이야기를 담고있다. 환경오염의 주범 중 하나인 폐비닐을 소재로 필리핀의 멸종동물 고래상어를 형상화 하였으며, 이를 계기로 환경에 대한 경각심 일깨우고 인간의 과오를 되짚어볼 수 있는 기회로 삼고자 했다.
< Fish out of Time > is a figuration a whale shark, a globally endangered species of the Philippines with waste plastic, one of the main sources of environmental pollution. This work is intended to bring attention to environmental contamination and to point out human errors.
