< Territories of Poverty >
The Philippines has been generally regarded as the country with the third largest gap between the rich and the poor. Sul Park and Faye Abantao who take part in the second residence program in Bacolod have interviewed homeless people, researching this region. They have seriously inquired into the problem of poverty they have overlooked indifferently in their everyday life. They will display an installation comprised of things they have gained from those homeless people when interviewing them.
Such objects and stories they have gleaned in the process of interviews served for them as an opportunity to look into diverse aspects of life, extending the scope of their vision toward life. They thought those who suffered poverty could not have any hope, but they discovered the people they interviewed have not lost their sense of joy. Their attitude served as a chance to deeply consider humanistic experience and diverse standards of life. They want to share their ideas on fulfilling life, affluence and poverty, and life standards with viewers, hoping to bring attention to our poverty-stricken reality.
